Hi, my name is John and I am a musician residing in Saint Petersburg, FL. I have been a student of music my entire life and have 20+ years of professional performance experience. My musical influences include John Williams, Henry Mancini, Danny Elfman, Stevie Wonder, Les Claypool, and Thomas Dolby. I also enjoy Pink Floyd, New Order, ELO, Shalamar, Herb Alpert, Talking Heads, as well as electronic, house, jazz, and deeper subgenres across all styles. My teaching approach can best be described as focused while fun. Lessons are rooted in fundamental music theory, reading and composition, proper technique, and improvisation while also tailoring the particular desires of each students musical interests. I like to tell my students that anything worth doing takes practice. My favorite thing about teaching is sharing my joy of music with the world. My favorite performances include playing these festivals: Austin City Limits, SXSW, CMJ, Wireless London, MIDEM Cannes, FR and opening for Devo. My biggest musical accomplishment is writing and producing my own Rock Opera. I primarily teach Piano, Guitar and Bass, but I also teach Brass, Music Engineering/Production, Songwriting and Composition. My approach as a teacher is to make life long music learners and lovers. Thanks for your time and I look forward to working with you!
