About Me

I started taking piano lessons when I was six years old, played Fur Elise at age 8, Moonlight Sonata 2nd movement at age 10, and started playing guitar at age 15. I started teaching guitar a couple years later, and only a couple years after that was teaching 20 students weekly. (This was in South Arkansas, and I've since moved, of course). For a brief time (several months) I was the pianist for a small church. In my early twenties, I briefly majored in music, specifically piano, though I later changed majors and made music my minor, instead.

I've been in numerous bands, starting with straight ahead rock as a teenager. I was later in several "art-rock" bands - think, The (late) Beatles, and now have a band that plays in the Baton Rouge area doing original folk-rock.

When I was 18 I won first place (18 and up category) in the Zieglers guitar playing competition (in Monroe, LA). I have a few other like achievements, as well.

If you're interested in playing by ear, reading music, understanding music theory, playing rock, folk, country, or most anything else, I can help you either get going or else move your musical understanding and/or ability in a new direction.
