My name is Jaylen, and music has been a huge part of my life since I was 3 years old. Growing up in church, I was surrounded by gospel music, which helped shape my passion, creativity, and love for playing. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from many talented musicians and experiences that molded me into the musician I am today. I’ve had the honor of playing for hundreds of churches, as well as performing with various gospel and secular artists. Some of my favorite experiences include playing for Eddie James and CeCe Winans. Every opportunity has strengthened my passion for music and inspired me to continue growing while helping others do the same. Teaching is something I truly enjoy because I love seeing students grow in confidence, skill, and passion for their craft. I’m dedicated to helping each student improve while making lessons fun, encouraging, and productive. My bass lessons are designed for all skill levels, whether you’re just starting out or already playing and wanting to sharpen your skills. I teach more than just notes and scales — I help students understand groove, timing, musicality, and how to truly play with confidence. With my background playing gospel, live touring, and session work, students will learn real-world techniques used by professional musicians. Lessons can include: • Bass fundamentals & technique • Gospel, R&B, funk, and contemporary styles • Ear training & playing by ear • Chord progressions & music theory • Pocket, timing, and groove development • Stage performance tips • Learning songs and live playing techniques • Beginner to advanced bass runs and fills • Confidence and creativity as a musician I’m dedicated to helping every student grow at their own pace while keeping lessons engaging and inspiring.
