About Me

Hi, my name is Atedhe but I go by Rex for ease. I'm a native New Yorker and have been a recording and touring musician for five years. My musical influences are all over the place: I love Television as much as I love Jim Croce, Bauhaus as much as Hank Williams, IDLES as much as Nina Simone, The Doors as much as Jeff Buckley. I listen to as much as I can in order to best inform my skillset. My teaching style can best be described as shoulder-to-shoulder. My teaching philosophy is that I want to tailor your interests to the lessons, engage you on what you want to learn, and expand on things you might not. In my lessons, you can expect to learn song structure, tonality, history, and of course songs. Above all else, the point is to be having fun as well as learning. My favorite thing about teaching is giving back the joy which music has continually given me. I've played all over the place, sharing the stage with acts such as The Buzzcocks, Geese, The Liminanas, Dinosaur Jr, Wand, Cut Worms, Gurriers, Slift, Bass Drum of Death, etc. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
