About Me

Sam began playing guitar at the age of 10. Over the years, he developed his skills further by taking lessons from the time he began playing, eventually studying at UNCSA here in Winston Salem under the guidance of Luke Payne, and Joseph Pecoraro for both High School and Undergrad. He gained performance experience in both the Winston Salem and Asheville NC areas by playing at such venues as The Ramkat, Wrong Number, and Static age with his post-grunge band Galena. Though Sam can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Classical/Nylon guitar as well as rock/grunge/punk of this century and the last, which had great influence on his style of playing. Sam loves music because it is a powerful community building tool and just feels great! Sam loves teaching music because he loves to connect people with our intrinsic draw to music as humans. He believes that everyone has the ability to learn to play music given the right resources and opportunities-which he aims to provide.
