About Me

My name is Naima & I’ve been singing since I was about 5 years old. I grew up with musician parents & I started performing at church first, then school, & locally in Florida as of 2017-18 with my family trio, some Top 40’s/Dance local bands, Jazz bands, & the State College of Florida Big Band. I perform, I record original music, & I teach vocal lessons. I developed a passion for teaching a few years back when I was in a group vocal master class, I was asked to sing, & a couple of other students politely introduced themselves & asked if I gave lessons. Once I gave my first few lessons, I realized I enjoyed helping people improve & expand their vocal abilities! Some of my influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Patsy Cline, I could go on…I am familiar with a lot of standards, classics, & some popular repertoire of today of course. I am fluent speaking/singing in both in Spanish & English. I also briefly studied vocal performance at State College of Florida in Bradenton, FL And I won the Florida Symposium Jazz competition of 2020. Shortly after that, my family submitted my original music to American Idol & The Voice. I auditioned for both shows & was flown out to Ojai, CA to audition for Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryant. All of these experiences have formed me into the vocalist, songwriter, & instructor I am today. I’ve learned how to properly take care of my instrument so I’m able to teach others how they can improve their vocal health, I’ve learned to take and give constructive criticism, and to structure individual plans so that there is consistency throughout the lessons. Taking a lesson with me, you can expect to you have a good time and laugh together because we will be making some crazy noises in order to get those nasal cavities and get that vocal placement going!
