About Me

Hi, I’m Grady. I’ve played music for about 20 years and taught for about 5, offering lessons on guitar, bass, piano, and ukulele for students of all ages and skill levels. I’ve also performed and recorded professionally around Richmond, Virginia with projects including Nucleus Trio, Big Fancy, Pharaoh Sistare, Dan & the Fam, and others. I love music’s ability to express what words can’t and to bring people together in a shared experience. Teaching is especially rewarding because there’s something magical about the joy or inspiration a student feels when they discover something new. My lessons are relaxed and focused on your goals and interests while also encouraging growth beyond your comfort zone. I aim to make playing your instrument fun and rewarding, not a chore. Lesson topics may include learning songs, improvisation, music theory, playing by ear, games, playing with emotion, composition, and more. I look forward to getting to know you and having some fun exploring music together!
