About Me

Hi, my name is Quin, and I've been playing guitar and bass for six years. I took lessons in middle school, which gave me a feel for the instrument, and I started taking music seriously when the pandemic started, and improving my skills at guitar was a source of pride and a way to keep myself grounded in a routine. I joined a school club where we put on a few rock concerts a year, and given that I was one of the only players in the group comfortable with improvising, I played in dozens of bands in high school, as people saw me as a reliable soloist though I think good rhythm guitar playing is just as vital but often overlooked. Now that I'm in college, I play bass and guitar in a couple jazz groups, and record my own music on the side.

Performing Experience:

Since my freshman year of high school, I have been playing in several bands a year, mostly rock stuff with lots of improvising. Recently, I've been playing in jazz bands through the Macalester music department, which has given me a great feel for other style of playing.

Experience Teaching:

I have worked as a camp counselor at La Senda, a kids' Spanish immersion camp. I supervised groups of kids and walked them through group activities, all while helping them improve their Spanish abilities and enforcing an immersion environment.
