Anthony A.
Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Home
Hello! My name is Anthony, and I am a 29-year-old musician born and raised in San Diego! I am looking to work with passionate students ages 8+ who are interested in learning piano and share a deep love for music like I do. Music has shaped my life since I was 6 years old. From begging my parents for piano lessons to attending formal classical training for over 10 years, I credit my confidence and appreciation for all genres of music to my wonderful piano teacher. As a teacher myself, my goal is to foster your love for piano, expand your horizons across different styles of music, build confidence in your playing, and hopefully help you perform at your very own recital in front of friends and family! Although I chose not to pursue music as a full-time career, I have dedicated my professional life to physical therapy. As of April 2025, I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and am currently studying for my licensing exam to practice as a clinician in the state of California. This unique period of studying gives me the flexibility to accommodate a wide range of schedules! Outside of studying, I enjoy listening to classical music, jazz, and electronic dance music EDM. I also stay active through hobbies such as tennis, surfing, running, weightlifting, and both indoor and outdoor rock climbing. My teaching style can best be described in one word: FUN! In the same way physical therapists help patients navigate the complexities of musculoskeletal injuries, I strive to meet students at their current level, challenge them appropriately, and make the learning process enjoyable. There is nothing worse than a strict teacher who unintentionally takes away your love for music through endless scale drills, assigning songs that do not resonate with you, or failing to create a genuine connection. Learning piano is like developing any meaningful skill or hobby: the more time and effort you invest, the more rewarding the experience becomes. Because each lesson builds upon the previous one, consistent practice is an important part of progress. I encourage students to practice for at least one hour each day, but with a genuine passion for music, you may find yourself happily playing for much longer! Just as my teacher helped instill confidence, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for music in me, I hope to do the same for you!
