I did not grow up with guitar heroes like a lot of guitarists, the guitar did not interest me all that much. My dad played and I have two brothers who picked it up early so it never seemed rare or interesting to me. Then in high school I took a literature class and began writing poetry extensively. It would take me years of writing poetry to discover that I wanted to put the words I was putting on the page into songs and so I began to teach myself guitar. After 2.5 years of self-teaching I decided to start lessons myself and saw huge improvement in my playing. I joined the worship team at my church and found that playing in a band made me all that much better. My brother and I started recording and releasing music and the rest. I love music because it can take a message deeper than words can. There is something so ethereal about a good melody or chord progression that just pushes communication past spoken or written word. Music is a connector and I am so happy to help other people join in that connection.
