About Me

Dear Hiring Manager, My name is Marcos, and I am writing to express my interest in a music instructor position at your school. With over 30 years of professional performance experience as a saxophonist and several years of hands-on teaching experience, I bring both technical knowledge and a deep passion for music education. I currently teach piano in both group and private lesson settings in the River Oaks district of Houston, where I work with students of varying ages and skill levels. My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals while creating an engaging and supportive environment, especially for younger students. I strive to make lessons both structured and enjoyable, helping students develop confidence, discipline, and a genuine connection to music. In addition to teaching, I am an active performing musician and play with The Free Radicals, a Grammy-nominated Houston-based band with over three decades of presence in the music community. This ongoing performance experience allows me to bring real-world insight into my teaching, helping students understand not only how to play music, but how to express it. I have experience preparing students for recitals and performances, and I take pride in helping them grow both technically and personally. My goal as an educator is to inspire a lifelong appreciation for music while equipping students with skills that extend beyond the classroom.
