About Me

Hi, my name is Sunyoung, and I am a collaborative pianist and piano instructor with a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from Boston University. I have been studying and performing music for many years, and I have experience working with both instrumentalists and vocalists in lessons, rehearsals, recitals, and auditions. As a teacher, I enjoy helping students build a strong foundation while also discovering their own musical voice. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and detail-oriented. I believe that every student learns differently, so I try to make each lesson clear, encouraging, and personalized to the student’s goals. In my lessons, students can expect to work on technique, musical expression, rhythm, sight-reading, practice habits, and confidence at the piano. I like to help students understand not only how to play the notes, but also how to listen, phrase, and communicate through music. My favorite thing about teaching is watching students become more confident and excited about music.
