About Me

My name is Orlando, and I am a professional jazz saxophonist, educator, and performer trained at some of the top music institutions in the country. I hold degrees from the University of New Mexico, the Eastman School of Music, and New York University, where I completed an Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies and Performance. Along the way, I have studied with and learned from some of the most respected names in jazz, including NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman and internationally renowned saxophonist Chris Potter. As a performer, I have played everywhere from major concert stages to national events, including performing the national anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers, and working alongside legendary groups like The Temptations. I have also recorded and released my own original music, including my debut album From This Moment Forward, featuring Grammy winning artists. But just as important to me as performing is teaching. I have taught at places like Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York University, and the Eastman School of Music, and I have directed ensembles ranging from middle school jazz combos to advanced collegiate musicians. My goal as an instructor is not just to help you play the right notes, but to help you find your voice, build confidence, and understand how music connects to the world around you. I believe that jazz is one of the most powerful tools we have for creativity, self expression, and community. Whether you are just starting out or already experienced, my job is to challenge you, support you, and help you grow into the strongest musician you can be. And yes, I expect great things from you, because I have seen what is possible when students commit to this music.
