About Me

Nico Trujillo is a Colombian saxophonist, composer, and educator whose music bridges the rich traditions of Colombia and the Caribbean with the language of jazz. Born in Tunja and raised in Ibagué, Colombia, he began his musical career at the Conservatory of Tolima, where he was recognized as Best Saxophonist of the Year in 2014. In 2016, Trujillo moved to the United States to continue his musical education. He earned a Bachelor of Music with emphasis Saxophone Performance from Texas A&M University–Central Texas and a Master of Music in Jazz Composition from the University of Texas at Arlington. Throughout his career, Trujillo has performed alongside internationally acclaimed artists including Chucho Valdés, Ted Nash, Francisco Torres, Greg Gisbert, and Tim Armacost. Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Trujillo maintains an active performance schedule throughout North Texas and the I-35 corridor as a bandleader, sideman, clinician, and educator. His work reflects a commitment to connecting audiences through jazz while celebrating the diverse musical traditions of Latin America.
