About Me
My name is Maria, and I am a senior at the University of New Mexico pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. I have been studying and performing vocal music since middle school and had the opportunity to further develop my skills through the Santa Fe Opera's Young Voices program during high school. My primary areas of interest are art song and opera, though I also have a strong passion for musical theatre. Over the years, I have performed in numerous opera productions, most recently singing the role of Eustazio in the University of New Mexico Opera Theatre's production of Rinaldo. I also recently completed a study abroad program in Germany and Austria focused on the study and performance of German art song. Music has always been an important part of my life, and I am passionate about sharing that love of singing with others. As an instructor, I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can develop healthy vocal technique, build confidence, and grow as musicians and performers. I look forward to helping each student discover their unique voice and reach their full artistic potential.

Formal Education:
University of New Mexico (in progress)
Private Education:
New Mexico School of Music Santa Fe Opera Young Voices
Performing Experience:
I have had the privilege of performing with the Santa Fe Opera Youth Chorus in the world premiere production of Sweet Potato Kicks the Sun. At the University of New Mexico, I have appeared with UNM Opera Theatre as Cecilia March in Little Women and Eustazio in Rinaldo, as well as in a variety of musical theatre scenes from productions including The Sound of Music and Chicago. As a vocalist, I am passionate about both operatic and art song repertoire. In 2025, I was awarded Second Place in the Vocal Artistry Art Song Competition. I recently completed my Junior Recital at the University of New Mexico, where I performed works by Paolo Tosti, Francis Poulenc, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. In addition to my solo performance experience, I am an active member of UNM's choral ensembles and perform regularly with them. I am committed to continual artistic growth and have participated in numerous master classes through the Santa Fe Opera, the University of New Mexico, and the EURASIA Salzburger Kunst und Kultur Begegnungsverein in Austria. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with distinguished performers and educators while further developing my skills as a singer and musician.
Experience Teaching:
While this is my first year teaching private voice lessons, I have developed valuable instructional experience over the past two years through leading choir sectionals and rehearsals. These opportunities have strengthened my ability to teach vocal technique, guide musical interpretation, and foster a positive, encouraging learning environment. As both a performer and educator, I am passionate about helping students build confidence, develop healthy vocal habits, and achieve their individual musical goals.
