About Me

Hello there! My name is Carsen and I am a percussion instructor who’s been teaching for just over 5 years. I’ve been a percussionist for about 17 years. Starting from a young age, I’ve always loved challenging myself with more and more difficult pieces. After I finished high school, I decided that all of my knowledge and skill could be put to use to teach and to instill this love of playing in others. Primarily I am a marching percussionist and this can be seen in me teaching both my high school drumline as an alumni and branching out into teaching a touring drum corps. But I am also very well equipped to teach techniques applicable to things like concert band or drumset playing in almost any style you can think of. My approach differs to most. While fundamental techniques and rudiments are vitally important to understanding how to play, I think just as important is loving the instrument that you’ve chosen. My goal is to get my students playing something and having fun with it as soon as possible. Thank you for taking a look at my profile and I hope to see you soon!
