About Me

I have been a musician for over 10 years and have performed on tour in the United States, Europe and Africa. I have been a recording artist the whole time mixing and mastering my own music in my home studio. With a passion for creating exceptional music and a proven track record of success in the music industry, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to your esteemed team. Throughout my career, I have gained valuable experience in diverse musical environments, honing my vocal abilities, performances and music production. My previous roles have equipped me with a deep understanding of the industry, enabling me to effectively pass on a ton of knowledge in from my experiences. Some highlights of my qualifications and achievements include: • Demonstrated expertise in playing musical instruments including guitar, keyboards, marimba and kora. • Organization and curricular building in order to upgrade student knowledge. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and faculty alike. • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while upholding high standards of dedication and service. I self-recorded my first album, Sipping From the Nile in 2006 to critical acclaim. Some of the recognition came from international bodies like BBC who named me one of the best 20 unsigned artists around the world. They said of my music that: “The mix of traditional African sounds with poetry and hip-hop works perfectly for Tshila” BBC World Service I have toured and performed on 3 continents and did a show at the Kennedy Center Millenium stage in Washington DC in 2017. I have also opened for global acts like Boyz II men and been a headlining act myself. In December of 2018, I released a self-recorded and self-produced album called World in Crisis. It addresses social and political challenges from an African woman’s perspective and was interviewed on BBC World Service as well as PBS and NPR to talk about it. Beyond my professional experiences, my life journey has taken me across continents, fostering proficiency in six languages including English, French, German, Swahili, Luganda, and Lugisu. My diverse experiences have also allowed me to excel creatively, as showcased through my personal website , where I manage content creation, video editing, and audio production.
