About Me

Grantful grew to love music from an early age. Born and raised in the peaceful hills of Marietta Georgia, Grantful picked up a guitar at age 6. Although guitar was his first love, the drums came naturally to him. Starting at 13 years of age, he focused all efforts into the drum kit. Grantful has played in bands since the age of 12. He has played dozens of shows in various venues from friend’s basements to the venerable Masquerade in Atlanta. Grantful is a contemporary musician, his main goal is to teach a student to be able to play with bands and get them stage ready as quickly as possible. Grantful is currently in active service with the Georgia Army National Guard. He brings a military bearing and positive attitude to every situation. Grantful’s music influences encompass most of the alternative rock scene as well as a bit of overlap into metal. Grantful has a deliberate and iterative teaching process partially gleaned from systems used in the military. The process is often called “Crawl-Walk-Run” where the concept is introduced, then implemented, then perfected. Grantful’s wonderful wife has described him as “The sweetest, most patient and attentive man I could find”. He specializes in making the impossible seem not so out of reach. Grantful is also self taught and seeks to encourage his students to put in the repetitions whenever possible. Consistency is the key to proficiency.
