About Me

Michael has been playing drums and percussion since 2006, and has been playing guitar since 2007. He has a BS in Music Education, an MM in Percussion Performance, and is nearly finished with his doctorate DMA in Percussion. As both a teacher and a musician, he is defined by variety and versatility. In the last 12 years, he has taught students of every age and ability level in private lessons, the elementary music classroom, middle and high school band classrooms, high school and college marching bands, and undergraduate music classes. He is a Swiss Army knife musician, with a wide breadth of experience. He is a performer, composer, songwriter, recording artist, and teacher on a variety of instruments; primarily percussion, guitar, and bass. He has performed in choirs, worship teams, rock bands, wind ensembles, orchestras, marching bands including snare drum in the Washington Commanders Marching Band, percussion ensembles, indoor percussion, and steel pan bands. He has composed, written lyrics, performed, song, and run recording on two albums, including his debut album, To The Wind 2024, for which he wrote and recorded every part himself. Michael's goal is not to be his students greatest teacher. Michael's goal is to provide his students with the resources and support they need to find their own passion, and thereby become their own creative teachers.
