Hello! My name is Kianu, and I have been playing music of all varieties for over 18 years. I grew up in Woodstock, New York, and personally knew and learned from such figures as Levon Helm, Donald Fagen and Happy Traum. In my time as a musician, I've opened for the likes of Debbie Harry and Laurie Anderson, and performed at venues such as the Bearsville Theater. My specialty is the guitar, and I am well-versed in folk, blues, ragtime, and also able to teach classic rock, pop, classical and early music traditions such as Renaissance and Baroque musical traditions! I believe mastering any style is possible if you start with a basic framework of chords, strumming and picking patterns. Instead of starting with the genre, I believe it's best to get a good sense of the guitar and learn your way around it, then take those skills in any direction you wish. Whether you are starting from square one, or simply want to refine your technique, I am here to help you on your path to exploring the guitar's limits and expanding your capabilities!
