About Me

Jacob's life as a musician began at a very young age, first by learning the piano from his mother, and also by learning the guitar from his father. He discovered the drums at the age of 10, and by the age of 13, he learned that drumming was his passion and so began his pursuit of mastering the drum set, never looking back! Being from a small town, there were no formal drums instructors for Jacob to learn from locally, so he had to learn how to teach himself by ear; by carefully listening to a variety of music from all different genres. This diverse method of learning allowed Jacob to get familiar with a broad selection of different genres, which in turn enables him to groove comfortably with just about any other musician, and he would love to teach that same versatility to you! Despite his experience with different styles, he has a strong affinity for rock, metal & fusion, and he credits most of his unique & complex musical style to bands like Rush, An Endless Sporadic, and RX Bandits. Jacob chooses the drums because of the freedom of expression they offer, and he loves getting the chance to teach others the joy of music by not merely teaching them how to play the drums, but by more deeply teaching them how to act and think like a musician. Whether you're just beginning or you already have some years of experience under your belt, Jacob can meet you at your level and help you develop & hone your own unique style and skillset. If you're passionate about drumming and you desire to gain a better understanding of the role you play in music, then Jacob is the instructor for you!

What to expect in my Drum Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

A comprehensive, step-by-step lesson plan in which every session constructively builds off of the techniques and concepts that were learned from the previous lesson. Beginning from scratch with learning how to set up & identify each part of the drum kit, progressing all the way through complex skills like alternate sticking and unorthodox time signatures.
