About Me
Joshua is a first-year Viola fellow with the New World Symphony. Throughout his musical career, he has been an avid performer and teacher in both Texas and Michigan. He has studied with Dr. Kathryn Steely at Baylor University, earning a Bachelor’s of Music Education, and with Professor Caroline Coade at University of Michigan, School of Music, Theatre, and Dance SMTD, earning a Masters of Music Performance. As an orchestral performer, has served as principal violist of the Adrian Symphony Orchestra and Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in the Ann Arbor Symphony, Lansing Symphony, and Waco Symphony. He has had the priviledge of performing under the batons of Michael Stern, Robert Spano, Larry Rachleff, Joanne Falletta, and more. Fascinated by child development and education, has engaged in a variety of teaching positions. Utilizing Suzuki String Methods, he served as string faculty for the Center for Performing Arts and Learning and the MSTARS Program in Michigan, for Violin, Viola, and Cello. His desire to educate young students lead him to be a teacher for OsoMusical, a specialized music classroom for the growing community of neurodiverse students in the Central Texas area, and to later serve as a Montessori Music Teacher in Michigan. During his summers, has performed in various music festivals, such as the Aspen Music Festival, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and the National Repertory Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he has performed at the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival, and has performed in Weill Recital Hall, at Carnegie Hall, with Baylor Graduate String Quartet, Ursino. Beyond his music studies, he enjoys long walks with his dog, Daisy, and is a passionate Pokémon fan.
