Keyboard and Piano Lessons

2 Years
I began learning the piano when I was 13 years old and self-taught myself many years. When I started teaching piano in 2008, I found that I absolutely loved it and wanted to major in education and piano pedagogy in college. I have taught children and adults of varying ages via several successful piano methods. I like to be flexible and glean valuable aspects from several different methods, including Thompson, Schaum, and Alfred. Likewise, I employ several different theory and technique books, as well as fun and engaging supplementary materials. I believe strongly in rewarding my students to encourage them to achieve their goals and to work hard. All of my students can start playing pieces the very first lesson with me.
Bethany Wu. has over 2 years of music experience in the Greenville area.
Bethany Wu. is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Formal Education:
In college, I studied church music, music theory, hymn improvisation, piano pedagogy, and took private college piano, voice, and violin. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Liberty University this past May with a double major in History and Education. I am currently pursuing my MAT in Elementary Education.
Private Education:
I have been mostly self-taught for most of my playing years, however, I have had some amazing and very inspiring piano teachers who have greatly influenced my life and encouraged me to always keep learning and attempting harder things at the piano.
Performing Experience:
I have been a church pianist for three different churches in two states (GA and SC). I also play monthly offertories for my current church and accompany a children's choir. I have also performed Christmas background music and concerts for several charitable organizations and played for one wedding.
Experience Teaching:
Although I have taught quite a few students of various ages, my teaching was limited to the time before I entered college full time. I taught private piano from 2008-2010. Because of moving to two other states, attending three universities, and keeping up excellent grades in my four years of college, I have not actively searched for piano students until now since I am graduated. I have had all good success with my students and good relationships for their parents and family members and wish to start teaching again very much.
