From the heart of East Texas, Lobo has an extensive background in all types of music. Having been signed with Step One Records in Nashville as a recording artist and song writer in the early 90's, he found himself on the brink of stardom with a top 40 recording of one of his own compositions, Ain’t No Cows in Texas. The video aired on TNN and CMT and even won the Video PM Challenge one afternoon, beating out Lionel Cartwright’s "Leap of Faith". But as is sometimes the case, the politics of the business proved to be too much for him and he found himself doing what he loves to do best...entertaining people and playing the guitar. As a guitarist, Lobo has mastered the Texas Style Blues and played lead guitar for blues legend Katie Webster and worked on stage with Percy Sledge and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. On the Country side....Lobo worked for two and a half years for George Jones and shared the stage with country legends Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty, Tanya Tucker, Johnny Paycheck and many others. As a song writer Lobo co-wrote "Love Me Down to Size" which was recorded by Country Music Hall of Famer, Ray Price. He also co-wrote, I Ain't Fool Enough To Fool Around which was featured on Larry Boone's Swinging Doors and Saw Dust Floors album on the Mercury/Polygram label. Lobo still has ties to, and writes with, Award winning song writers in Nashville. Writing, playing, entertaining, and singing is what Lobo is best at. He says it's a passion... those who listen to him know that’s true.
My method of teaching is to get to know the student and how to relate music to them in a way they can understand. Some students want to learn certain songs, some want to learn music theory. Some want to play alone for their own relaxation, some want to play in a band. I have taught students from the beginner level, to those who are playing in a working band. I am pretty versatile in what I teach...everything from Blues to Country to Classic Rock.
