Bass Guitar Lessons, Orchestral Lessons
Studio or Home
I took piano lessons since about 8. I started in the school orchestra playing violin, switching to string bass in 8th Grade. I played in the high school orchestra as well as the University of Michigan Youth Orchestra throughout high school. In addition, I was involved in a jazz performance program, and played the bass guitar in several bands during high school. I went to the University of Louisville to formally study double bass in the classical style under Sidney King.
Formal Education:
During my education at the University of Louisville, I took classes in jazz style, (including some jazz bass lessons), music composition, as well as music theory and music history. The main emphasis, however, was on classical music, and I graduated with a bachelors in double bass performance.
Performing Experience:
I have performed with all the orchestra's I had mention, (including the University of Louisville Orchestra) in addition to the University of Louisville Wind Ensemble and some college chamber groups. I've performed with different bands in the genres of metal, rock, and classical. I also was in the pit orchestra for many musical productions in high school, including Grease, Jeckle and Hyde, and Footloose. I have also presented works for solo double bass and solo bass guitar, separate from the performances required for my schooling.
Experience Teaching:
I have taught a few friends how to play the bass guitar. During my first two years of college I participated in a program called Scroll Works, which was set-up for underprivileged children to receive free music lessons. At the time, (due to interest and instruments) I taught violin, cello, and piano.
