As far as influence goes I've been inspired by everyone from Johnny Cash to John Coltrane to Jimi Hendrix, from Bob Dylan to Lemmy. I see the beauty in simplicity and in virtuosity. As a reference I encourage guitarists and bass players to study chords, scales, and modes; but there's nothing wrong with just learning some songs you'd like to play. I see classical 'church' chords, and the scales and modes within them as building blocks to go anywhere. Depending on someone's wants and needs as a musician that's usually where I start unless someone wants to learn a specific song, solo, or otherwise.

Early on I took private guitar lessons. I've had five different teachers who've covered many different styles, and many different approaches to theory, technique, and discipline.
Performing Experience:
Since my early teens I've been in bands, mainly playing guitar. I wrote on and off during my tentative years, but focus mainly on that now as I lead two gigging bands. I've played and performed at various types of venues in jazz, country, metal, punk, and psych rock bands.

I've taught for 15 years. I learned at a young age and began teaching my friends as bands formed.
