Playing Guitar from age 12. My musical influences started out with classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and Tom Petty. Then progressive bands like Rush and Yes. I am still a huge fan of Randy Rhoads-with his classical influence. Later I started to be interested in players like Steve Vai. Vivian campbell & Buckethead. I have A great passion for Classical Guitar. I also enjoy some radio music and steel string folk music. My approach to teaching has been a combination of giving some music theory, Fretboard /speed mechanics as well as teaching songs in the styles that the students are interested in. I like to listen to students so as to be aware of their interests so I can keep the student excited about learning. I have experience with children as I have been the sole parent of my 21 Yr.. old son. I try to give a sense of accomplishment. I enjoy watching a player make steps toward a better understanding of guitar. Also I always give out reference material so students can review and work on what has been taught that week. Teaching specific songs is always do-able.

Private Education:
I started private lessons at age 13 at a local music store and did that for about 18 months. Much of what I learned as a starting Player came from the large library of music books that I collected as well as magazines like Guitar Player magazine. The guitar is in large part something learned by playing with other players and musicians.
Performing Experience:
My first experience performing came in the middle school cafeteria. During lunch on the last day of 8th grade. Our band played while the others ate lunch. Since then I have performed in 5-6 bands doing mostly classic rock and prog vers as well as 1 all original band. 4 of the bands played in local bars and clubs. the Porpoise Pub. etc.
Experience Teaching:
In the late 80's I was employed by the city, teaching in a group setting with 3-5 children at a time. I did that for 1 year. After college in my 30s I started teaching out of my home and at a musical shop Good Vibrations. I was able to keep 3-6 students for about 5 years. Experience: 35 years playing-8 years instructing
