I have played in jazz, rock, and blues bands since college. I graduated San Francisco State with my Masters in Music Ed. with a concentration in Jazz Piano & Theory. I give my students a solid foundation in classical technique but I also stress music theory and ear training. As a pianist and keyboardist in a variety of bands I can offer training in improvisation, focusing on blues, gospel or jazz.
Having studied classical piano since I was five, I teach good piano technique first, but I also let students focus on ear training, theory, and improvisation if they desire it. I stress self-expression as the main goal of being a well-rounded musician and I make sure students take an active role in directing their own musical exploration.
Alex Arb. has over 44 years of music experience in the Little Falls area.

Four years at St. Thomas Choir School '74-'78. Music Theory and composition lessons at Hampshire College '83-'85. Masters degree in Music Ed. for San Francisco State University with concentration in Jazz Piano and Jazz Theory '87
Private Education:
Classical piano private instruction since age 5. Private theory lessons since age 15.
Performing Experience:
I have played in 17 piece jazz bands at San Francisco State University and Montclair State University. Released on CD for One Seed; keyboardist for Three Martini Lunch and Boolawee; assorted stand-in performances on Motown, Gospel, and Rhythm and Blues bands
