I teach beginning piano out of my personal home studio, and have been teaching on and off for about 10 years now. I have a bachelor's degree in Music, with an emphasis in composition from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. I love teaching students-whether 8 years or 80 years old, and I approach teaching with a can-do attitude-everyone can learn to play! I help develop student's understanding of both written music, and playing music by ear, so that they will truly get the best experience out of playing piano.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
There are many tips and techniques to help you get immediately comfortable with the layout of the piano. If you are a brand new beginner, I will first help you get acquainted with this wonderful instrument. I know it seems like a lot of keys, but once you understand the layout, navigating the piano is surprisingly easy. If you are brand new to the piano, first we'll learn key names, the basics of scales, major and minor chords, as well as some basics about time signatures and rhythm. I'll even show you how to create your first song, or I can teach you a well known song you've always wanted to play! If you already know the basics, we can go into more advanced chords and rhythms, and the sky's the limit from there. No matter what, I guarantee it'll be fun!

Performing Experience:
I've performed several large concerts (75 or more people) where I played and sang original music, and I have done numerous piano performances for nursing homes, not to mention many open mics.

I've taught young children all the way up to middle aged adults, with a focus on fun and "learning while you go"-no boring music theory and ear training assignments-you can learn everything on the fly.
