Inspiring Teacher
I am writing to affirm that Doris is a very skilled musician and is uniquely creative in the ways in which she communicates to and educates her students. In addition to being one of the best piano sightreader/ accompanists I have ever employed, we have observed her do her best to help children even as young as 4 years old to succeed. She finds and/or creates curriculum that is appropriate for students she teaches and inspires the students to learn. I would highly recommend Doris as a voice teacher (her first suit) and a piano teacher as well. She is kind, gentle and yet strong, and wonderfully quirky with a good sense of humour. Doris is a wonderful teaching/composing/performing musician. She has multiple skills to offer a teaching facility---most notably voice and piano. Her singing voice is a stunning soprano that can easily navigate multiple styles, such as Early Music, Celtic, light opera, and jazz. It is a fine instrument for young students to emulate--free, well supported, resonant, and agile. On piano, she has the basics and beyond. She also plays lute, Celtic Harp, and recorder. Doris is a wonderful and technically accomplished singer, who pays great attention to intonation and musicality, and has good communication skills in presenting her ideas for musical approaches to the pieces in the performances .
