Hi! My name is Brendan and I have been playing the drums for almost 13 years now. With years of formal and private education under my belt, as well as copious amounts of performing and recording experience, I hope to share my skill sets with the students that come my way! Most often I perform and tour with my band Fat Spirit, and in the past with VCU small Jazz ensembles, but I have also played many side gigs and recording sessions of varying styles and vibes. I prefer teaching my students to read drum set sheet music, but also strongly encourage learning by-ear. Let's get drumming!
Brendan H has over 12 years of music experience in the Glen Allen area.
Brendan H is proficient in and teaches Drum Lessons .Formal Education:
Classical Percussion and Drumline/Marching band throughout middle and high school; Jazz drum lessons and ensemble classes at VCU
Private Education:
Private Drum Lessons throughout middle and high school; Private Jazz Drum Instruction through VCU Jazz Program in college
Performing Experience:
Fat Spirit (4 years and continuing); Age of Asparagus (2 years); Session drummer for 5 years, gigging drummer for 7 years, VCU Small Jazz Ensembles, WGI drumline scholastic (3 years); I am always performing and have been since the age of 14
Experience Teaching:
I have experience teaching privates for the past four years with an age range from children to adults. I teach drums for the Richmond organization Girls Rock!RVA in a classroom type setting. I have also taught for a summer music camp in Richmond.
