Hi Everyone! I have been teaching piano and voice lessons in the Lafayette / Louisville/Erie area in Colorado for the past 30 years. I am a 53 years old graduate from the San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory Department/Piano and Solfeggio Vocal Classes (1989) and I have a BA in piano performance from UC Santa Cruz in California (1993). I was a member of both the Boulder (since 1994) and Broomfield (since 2005) Piano Teacher Associations. I teach ages 5 through senior, combining theory, technique, singing and song playing in my studio. I believe music should be fun, so students are able to choose a lot of repertoire that they would like to learn as well! I teach beginning vocal lessons to all ages with an emphasis on enunciation, comfort in singing, projecting, vocal warm-ups. We use YouTube videos to sing with your favorite songs, as well as sheet music I can accompany you on! I also teach some basic Italian music vocabulary and am happy to introduce you to the piano as well, if you'd like! I also teach a beginning Intro to Music Class for kids. 45 to 90 minute super fun group lessons where we learn about different instruments, composers, dancing and clapping out different rhythms and some basic Italian music vocabulary.

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I teach piano using a lesson and theory book. Flashcards for quick note and term recognition. Most importantly I encourage my students to choose a book of music in the style they really enjoy and aspire to play!
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner -
Voice students are taught proper technique, some fun warm-ups, stretches, some basic music terms. But most importantly we use YouTube and or sheet music I will accompany you on to sing songs you want to sing!

Musical Joy Children's Class
To anyone thinking about enrolling your child in a music/piano class, I highly recommend April! My son has been taking piano lessons with April for 3 years and I am excited my 5 year old daughter can start taking this beginning music class with her as well. Beginner Voice Lessons
I knew nothing about singing and I was nervous. April guided me and was very receptive to me. She would adjust and is able to give you a challenge as well, all while having fun. Be open, trust her and all will come together. To me, she is a great instructor because she will take complicated information and break it down so that it makes sense to her students.
