About Me

Michael T. K., a local-grown musician born in 1989, was educated at The University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned Bachelors Degree in Music Marketing and a Certificate in Jazz Studies. As a self-taught musician from an early age, he tried understanding any instrument he could get his hands on, beginning with guitar, trumpet and drums. Studying music in college, he found a community of curious musicians, and soon discovered his passion for jazz. Currently, he is fortunate enough to be able to spend his days teaching music though HOST and private lessons from his home-studio, still able to perform music around town with DT Buffkin, Ortega Jazz, and leading his own jazz quintet RedLight Jazz.

Transitioning to conduct the wind ensembles. 3 years: Substitute teacher with SA Music Academy, piano and guitar.
