About Me
Mark has been playing the drums since childhood. Upon graduation from High school, Mark received the 1988 Herb Alpert Music Scholarship. In 1991 Mark graduated from Musicians Institute, Hollywood Calif. His Instructors included Chuck Flores (Woody Herman), Casey Schuerrel (Chaka Khan, Jean-Luc Ponty) and L.A. session great Joe Porcaro. Currently, Mark is a full time drum set instructor and currently plays with Diamond Empire Band. Mark also freelances with various recording, Rock, Blues and jazz gigs

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students should be expected to be focused, relaxed and excited to learn! I am a very patient teacher who meets students where they are in terms of skill level. and natural aptitude. I am a big proponent of proper technique and basic through advanced understanding of rhythmic music notation and theory.
Formal Education:
1: Participated in High School marching band, jazz band, and orchestra. 1986, 1987, and 1988: Awarded “Most Valuable Musician” from Narbonne High School, Harbor City Calif. 1988: Herb Alpert music scholarship recipient. 1: Studied percussion under Dr. Remeta at Los Angeles Harbor College. 1991: Graduated from Percussion Institute Of Technology at Musicians Institute, Hollywood Calif. Instructors included were Chuck Flores (Woody Herman), Casey Schuerrel (Jean-Luc Ponty) and L.A. session great Joe Porcaro.
Private Education:
1: Private drum instruction under H.B "Swede" Meredith, who was an Los Angeles session drummer and had played briefly with The Harry James Big Band.
