About Me

Hello, I am Alexandra. Just so you can know a little more about me: I am 18 years old and I am currently studying music education at the University of Texas at El Paso with Dr. Colgin. My approach to teaching would be teaching the importance of breathing, scales, and tone (the foundation of an amazing musician.) I have 5 years experience teaching flute and have had the chance to learn from so many wonderful teachers like Dr. Cohen, Dr. Colgin, Joy Zalkind, Jennifer Rodrigez and so many more! I'm excited to pass my knowledge down to students who are excited and inspired by music just as much as I have been. I'm also happy to share my love for music with others by having the chance to introduce them to the power of music.

Formal Education:

I went to Clint High School where I graduated early to start my career as a Music educator at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Private Education:

I have formally studied with Dr. Melissa Colgin for about a year at The University of Texas a El Paso.

Performing Experience:

I've been a part of many groups and ensembles in the El Paso area such as performing with ATSSB All region band for five years in a row and performing a solo at UIL for 4 years in a row and with an ensemble for 3 years in a row . I was also a part of The El Paso Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mr. Phillip Gabriel Garcia where we were involved in many forms of playing ranging from mariachi music to rock to Jazz. I have performed in Universal Studios and Knotts Berry farm with this group and have had the opportunity to play with Billy Towns. I have also been a part of The El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra, lead by Mr. Andy Moran, for 4 years. In this group I have performed with El Paso's finest growing musicians as well as the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. I am also a part of the symphony band at UTEP and was part of the UTEP chorus for a semester.

Experience Teaching:

I have been teaching since my freshman year of high school. I was assigned 'section leader' from my freshman year up until the day I graduated. As a high school student I taught at Clint Junior High School about once a week and often taught privately to a few high schoolers who wanted to grow as musicians.
