About Me

I'm a dedicated guitarist & music lover with 20+ years experience. I enjoy sharing & teaching my musical knowledge to others & am constantly evolving my capabilities myself.  

Matthew R has over 20+ years of music experience in the Galesburg area.

Formal Education:

I recieved my my BA in Music Theory from University of Illinois, Urbana. Prior to that I completed several music courses at Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg, Illinois.

Private Education:

I have had extensive training from Bruce Nelson, a private instructor who now owns Cherry Street Music, Galesburg

Performing Experience:

I completed 130 hours of performing while at college. Aside from that Ive been in many bands, played parties & weddings as a solo act And have done several live radio performances on WVKC Knox College radio.

Experience Teaching:

I have done private lessons to mostly children & high school level, mainly particular songs they've inquired about or requested and some music theory.
