About Me

Colin has played French Horn across the country, with professional groups in Arizona, California, Idaho, and New York. Now in Washington, Colin is eager to share the joy of music with other hornists of all ages. 

Colin S. has over 10 years of music experience in the Tacoma area.

Colin S. is proficient in and teaches Orchestral Lessons .



Formal Education:

Bachelor's of Music Education at Northern Arizona University Master's of Horn Performance at Ithaca College. 

Private Education:

I have studied with Alex Shuhan, Nancy Sullivan, and Larry Strobel in long term settings, and have had masterclasses with Julie Landsman, Rick Todd, and Daniel Katzen, among others

Performing Experience:

As a student in Arizona I performed with the Flagstaff Symphony, in addition to several Scholarly ensembles. In California, I performed with several pit orchestras and other local ensembles. 

Experience Teaching:

I have had private students regularly since 2008, between 1-8 at any given time, and have taught ages 7-70.  In formalized education, I was a brass consultant with 3 different high schools, and one middle school in California, and taught with the Santa Rosa Jr. College.
