I grew up in Virginia in a little town called Bedford at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm 30 years old and have been playing/writing/recording music since I was 14. I enjoy hiking and video games when I'm not playing music. I started out playing "soft" punk like NOFX, Pennywise, Lagwagon, AFI, The Offspring, etc. and 90s Alternative Rock such as Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, The Toadies. After playing songs similar to those in bands during my high school years I switched over to focus more on my singer/songwriting than my guitar playing side. During my college years I learned how to play and write songs like some of my favorite artist during that time including Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, Simon & Garfunkel, and Dashboard Confessional. Most of what I was writing and recording was acoustic based, but I was also learning new recording techniques and keyboard tricks.
Once I was able to aquire more equipment my music became more professional and "full" sounding, yet still retaining its independent and artistic nature. Much of my influence during this time came from bands like The Cure, Of Montreal, The Smiths, and Belle & Sebastian. In 2013 I formed a band with some lads called Bombardier. I mainly provided lead guitars that blended with the rest of the band to for grand soundscapes that were dreamy/spacey, yet still held basic rock foundations. During my time playing with them we recorded an EP that was released on vinyl and toured up and down the east coast and into the midwest. I parted ways with Bombardier to reform a former band called Poor Adam and quickly recorded a four song EP at Fainting Goat Studios in Bedford, VA. Recently I relocated here to Richmond, VA to continue to persue my interest in music and the people that create it. I'm always ready to pass on what I've learned along the way in hopes to inspire more people to follow their dreams and passions.
Kenny V has over 16 years of music experience in the Richmond area.
I've mostly been self taught when it comes to writing and recording music. I've worked in a professional studio on and off for about 5 years and provided live sound for numerous local shows and concerts since I bought my first PA when I was 16.
Started playing shows when I was 15 with my first band and have played somewhere around 50-60 shows with other bands throughout the years. I last played in a professional touring and recording band for about 3 years.
I've taught a few family members and friends the basics of guitar and/or bass. It's always been an exciting experience for us both!
