I was born in Venezuela, where Latin culture was woven into everything — from the food to the rhythms that filled the air. My journey with music began in sixth grade when I got my first drum set, but it was the marching band and indoor percussion scenes that truly shaped my early influences. I pursued both throughout my school years and was honored to make the Texas All-State Band as early as seventh grade — an experience that exposed me to some truly inspiring musical environments. As I grew as a drummer, Latin music on the drum set quickly became a personal favorite. The limb independence required — each hand and foot carrying a different groove — created a sonic illusion of an entire section playing, not just one person. It was technically demanding, musical, and deeply satisfying. I often leaned into these patterns as exercises for advanced drumming technique. Throughout high school and beyond, I competed in — and won — numerous extracurricular drumming competitions. These opportunities continued to expand my dynamic range and shaped the way I approached the drum set: not just as a timekeeper, but as a storyteller capable of orchestral depth and nuance. In recent years, I’ve stepped into the world of music production. This transition sparked a deeper curiosity about two things in particular: acoustics and timing. I became fascinated with how some individuals can navigate a space by sound alone, and I believe that kind of sonic awareness is something every musician and producer should explore. Recording has also fine-tuned my sense of rhythm and feel in ways I never imagined when I first sat behind a drum kit.
Erick F is proficient in and teaches Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons, Record Engineer Produce .
Formal Education:
Indirectly related in Biology but, have taken percussion ensemble in College as well.
Private Education:
I've studied with Douglas Cardwell, Principal Timpanist of the Chicago and New Mexico Symphony Philharmonic.
Experience Teaching:
While my main expertise is in drums and percussion, I’ve also taught beginner piano students and enjoy helping musicians build a solid foundation across instruments. My teaching style is unconventional and refreshingly straightforward, especially when it comes to rhythm and timing. What I bring to the table is the ability to make complex concepts feel simple — because I don’t just strive to simplify them, I do. Whether it’s a syncopated groove or a challenging coordination exercise, I break it down in a way that’s clear, approachable, and easy to internalize — no overthinking, no jargon. If you're looking for lessons that cut through the noise and help you finally "get it," I’ll meet you where you are and move you forward — with clarity, creativity, and a little bit of fun along the way.
