I have been playing guitar and bass guitar for over 20 years and piano since I was 13 years old. I have played in many bands, recorded an album and gigged all over Pacific Northwest.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
music fundamentals, sight reading, scales and chord spelling, music theory.
Formal Education:
Music theory and advanced piano at Portland State University, as well as classical guitar program.
Private Education:
Received private piano lessons at age 13 years for 2 years, and then switched to guitar and learned how to read lead sheets and tablatures. 3 years of college level music theory, piano proficiency and classical guitar training.
Performing Experience:
I have played bass and lead guitar in several different rock bands over the last 20 years. Currently playing lead guitar with my alt-rock band called Different Cities
Experience Teaching:
One on one guitar and music theory lessons. I prefer to learn about the student's ability and the level of understanding and then choose the area of study that would improve their technique, knowledge and make them more comfortable with their instrument

A semi-biased, unbiased review
My husband has been playing music for almost his entire life. He essentially taught himself how to play guitar when he was a young boy, and continued to adapt his skill level as he got older. It wasn't until he reached adulthood that he received a formal lesson. His education with PSU has helped fill in any gaps that were missing while also giving him validation about what he was able to learn for himself. I do believe that this makes him an ideal person to learn from. He is smart and incredibly talented. He's also very patient with those he has taught basic skills to, and recognizes that everyone learns differently. Because of his learning experiences growing up and what he has accomplished so far from college, he has subsequently learned several methods of teaching.
