About Me

I grew up in Portland, OR and played piano for 8 years. I graduated from Oregon State University in 1996 with a degree in Marketing. I was comissioned into the Air Force in 1996 as a second lieutenant and purchased my first guitar not long after joining. I spent 18 years in the Air Force in various positions in the space and missile career field. I have been stationed in California, Montana, Colorado and Kansas. I deployed to Iraq in the winter of 2004. I retired in 2014 as a Lieutenant Colonel. I started teaching guitar part time following retirement. I have consistently had students since, but did not decided to pursue teaching full time until recently. I currently have 11 students and am looking to build up to 40 or so students. I am very professional and patient with my students and have been complimented on a relaxed and individually tailored learning experience.

Performing Experience:

I have been consistently performing in rock cover bands since 2006. I have played hundreds of shows over the years. My current band is called Region 5. I perform weekly as part of a jam night house band. I also have quite a bit of experience public speaking. In the Air Force I have presented to General Officers as well as members of Congress.

Experience Teaching:

I have experience in the Air Force teaching at many different levels. I spent three years with the Army teaching at the graduate level for the Army Command and General Staff College. I started teaching guitar lessons part time after I retired from the Air Force in 2014.
