About Me

I have played in local bands for over 25 years, and played clubs with both original and cover bands covering a lot of different styles of music, from the Beatles to Metallica. I currently play with the local band Twenty Dollar Prophet. I have studio experience and have written and recorded over 30 songs in a professional studio. I have written many more songs, and I currently record them at home. My influences are many, but some of my favorite guitar players are : John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, James Hetfield, Joe Satriani, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Mike W has over 20 years of music experience in the Westminster area.

Mike W is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .

Formal Education:

I took guitar I and II in High School. I took guitar classes for 1 year at community college.

Private Education:

I have had several formal teachers with weekly lessons on and off, totalling about 10 years of instruction. I have also played with and shared tips, tricks, and licks with dozens of other professional guitar players.

Performing Experience:

I have played over 1000 shows in halls, bars, and clubs in MD, DC, VA, PA, WVA, NY, NJ, DE.

Experience Teaching:

I have given lessons privately for years. I can teach beginners both adult and child. I can also teach the student who wants to work on specific songs or techniques to better their playing. I have helped others with writing songs too. With my students I take my time to learn what it is they really want to learn. I tailor my lesson plans specific to each student. I create a positive nurturing environment that allows my student to succeed in reaching their goals.
