Having graduated from VCU Music with honors in 2008, I have been teaching private and group guitar lessons continuously as well as composing and performing music while living in New York City from 2. During that time, I also served as a string adjudicator for the New York State School Music performance experience ranges from classical guitar recitals in concert hall settings, to playing electric guitar in rock bands and jazz orchestras. In addition to the use of method books, I incorporate song learning, ear training, soloing, rhythmic study, and music theory as part of my core curriculum. The range of styles encompassed by the guitar is perhaps greater than of any other instrument. My training and experience in popular, jazz, and classical styles allows me to offer engaging instruction across all of these styles.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I will evaluate your understanding of the concepts of music theory and written music. I would not allow for any student I have been fortunate enough to have select me as their guitar instructor, to leave my lessons without understanding the fundamental structure of all music theory, which is of course......(drum roll)...the Major Scale. Learning this much about music theory, is quite simple and fun. From there we will explore whether or not we will focus on learning through the use of standard musical notation, tablature, combinations of standard notation and TAB notation, and chord symbols vs. chord diagrams (they are not the same thing!). In addition, we will utilize the fundamentals of lead-sheet notation and special electronic learning media, as those can be quite productive as well.

Guitar Teacher Reference: Jeremy
Hi there, Jeremy was my guitar teacher for at least eight months (I can't remember exactly how long - could have been longer) while I lived in NYC before I moved back to Amsterdam in late 2013. He is an extremely attentive, warm and knowledgeable teacher - with a great, somewhat dry, sense of humour! After taking some time to focus in on what I really wanted to learn (blues.jazz), he developed a tailored programme to cover basic scales, reading and improvisation exercises. Jeremy is very contientioius and really knows his stuff! If I were in your position I would not hesitate to take him on as a teacher and I'm sure your future students would benefit from his in-depth technical capabilities and his positive, encouraging approach as a teacher. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any more detail regarding my experience as one of Jeremy's students. P.S. Say Hi to Jeremy from me :) Jonathan Fletcher wrote on Mon, 20 Feb 2017
Incredible Teacher
Jeremy is great at what he does; very dedicated to his craft. He is responsible, patient and proffessional. This is the type of person that is hard to find in the industry. Luis A. Aguilar wrote on Thu, 23 Feb 2017
