Steve began playing guitar at age 10 and has rarely put it down only to pick up the saxophone, bass or sit at the piano. Steve was very passionate about playing music from an early age and played in bands through middle and high school. In college he majored in music where he studied jazz, classical, and honed his skills in rock music playing with touring groups on the weekends. Upon graduating he instructed private lessons, taught "Rock Schools," and evetually became an orchestra director at a private school in Virginia Beach. While not playing music he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their cats, and going snowboarding.
Steve L- has over 11 years of music experience in the Richmond area.
Steve L- is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons, Orchestral Lessons .Formal Education:
Steve completed a Bachelors in Muisc Education from Old Dominion University and graduated magna cum laude
Performing Experience:
Steve has played locally and nationally with a number of artsits including Karl Werne, John Toomey, Eddie Williams, Justin Kauflin, and a number of bands including DEJA--a 70s prog rock cover band, Right on Band--a 70s dance tribute band, Big Virginia Sky--bluegrass/americana, and Roosterfoot--blues, country, rock and roll. Steve has performed at Lockn', Floyd Fest, and a number of local stages and festivals.
Experience Teaching:
Steve has been a private instructor since 2006 and has taught guitar, bass, piano, saxophone, ukulele, violin, trumpet, banjo and mandolin to students ages five through seventy five. He has taught private lessons at Music & Arts, Virginia Beach School of the Arts, Old Dominion University, Music Makers, and Cape Henry Collegiate.
