Director of Bands
I have known Dylan for the last four years, and he has been a frequent member of my top Wind Symphony every since his freshman year. He is a hard working, talented, energetic young man with a bright future. Dylan is both an excellent trumpet player and a sensitive musician. He has been a major contributor to many JMU ensembles. For curricular reasons, I use a rotational seating system in my ensembles, but I often assign significant parts and exposed solos to Dylan. Each time Dylan has come through with wonderful technique and musicianship. The JMU Wind Symphony recently performed the Stravinsky Octet, and I was very pleased with Dylan’s performance of the difficult Trumpet in A part. He has also been very active in our JMU Brass Band where he has been the solo flugelhorn player for several years. This semester Dylan is also the principal trumpet in the JMU Symphony Orchestra. Dylan has done so much playing at JMU that he has become a very natural performer. Dylan is a wonderful person. He has an engaging personality that is upbeat and positive. He works well with other students and my fellow professors speak highly of his work in their classes. Stephen P. Bolstad, D.M.A. wrote on Wed, 31 May 2017
