I’ve been writing songs for over 20 years now, and what I’ve learned over that time is that your song-writing style will evolve. The most important thing to remember is it is easier to write about something that’s on your mind or important to you, rather than trying to manufacture an idea.

I actually learned bass before I learned guitar, and that was really helpful (fewer strings to worry about!). Bass gives you a chance to learn a little bit more about progressions, and keeps things simple by only needing to focus on one note at a time.

Lessons work best when the student can work at their own pace. I don’t bring an agenda, I want the lesson to be fun and keep the student engaged so they want to keep learning and getting better. In my experience it was always better to start off learning a song I liked and go from there. Learning the technical aspects happens as you go.
