Hi, my name is Anthony and I have been gigging in and around Chicago on electric and upright bass for the past 15 years. I love teaching for the “Ah hah” moments. I help my students understand and master the techniques and concepts they need, and become the musicians they desire. I like to customize lessons to teach students what they want to learn while still reinforcing the skills and concepts they need to learn.

Beginner - Intermediate
I create customized lesson plans specific to a student's individual needs and goals while still teaching the elements of music. Beginners will learn: the function of bass in various styles of music; proper technique; how to read sheet music, chord charts, lead sheets, and tabs; how to play and jam with others; how to ‘lock in’ with drums; instrument maintenance and care; ear training. More advanced players will: strengthen musical knowledge and enhance playing by reinforcing understanding of rhythm, syncopation, phrasing, feel and harmony; augment your fills and freshen your solos.
Formal Education:
I studied jazz, orchestral, and choral music in high school, and continued these studies at Northeastern Illinois University.
Performing Experience:
I have had the good fortune to have performed at the Taste of Chicago, All Souls Jazz Festival, FOX's Good Day Chicago, WGN morning news, The House of Blues, Chicago Symphony Center, and countless other bandstands. I currently perform in a wedding/party band, a soulful rock band, support a pianist who specializes in jazz and boogie, a praise and worship band, and help back a few hip hop artists whenever they are looking for live musicians.
