I've been involved with music most of my life. As a boy, I sang in the church choir and played trumpet and baritone horn in the school bands. At 16 I learned to play guitar and bass from the Alfred method books and my friend who lived up the street. WE started out first band about a year later and I've been playing guitar and bass and singing in bands ever since.
I am also a PhD in Philosophy and teach classes at the University of Mary Washington. For more than 20 years I worked in human resources and staffing sales/recruiting for local technology companies.
I currently play in a local classic rock cover band and teach guitar and bass at Picker's Supply in Fredericksburg. This would be a good time for me to add more students. My lessons focus on ear training, sight reading and music theory with the goal of nurturing the student's actual talents and interests rather than a predetermined curriculum only. I grew up with rock n roll, The Beatles and most of the 60's classic rock as my main influences. But I appreciate and have played everything from church music to jazz, country and bluegrass to classical.
