What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
I will give you technique, teach you songs and give you resources for learning songs on your own, and also give you a small does of music theory. I will try to get you playing things you enjoy as soon as possible, but we've got to get the fundamentals, too, because that will help you learn faster later on!
Formal Education:
B.A. in music composition from Virginia Commonwealth University with guitar as main instrument
Private Education:
Classical guitar teachers-Larry Snitzler, Sam Dorsey Jazz teachers-Woody Beckner, Paul Renz
Performing Experience:
Performed classical and pop music at clubs, bars, concert halls, farmers' markets, and even in the subway. Played for theater productions and also as accompanist for a cabaret performance. Wrote songs and performed them on a local monthly variety show in New York City. Played mandolin for an opera production of Mozart's Don Giovanni In addition, Peter has performed as a singer in choral and opera productions in Virginia and in New York.
Experience Teaching:
Peter has taught guitar five years in schools, music stores and academies. His students have learned classical guitar, pop, rock, and jazz basics.
