What sets Caleb apart as a music teacher is the rare intersection of his skills: high church organ and choral direction, operatic vocal training, and a deep love for jazz. He brings not only versatility, but also an intuitive grasp of practical music theory that turns complex ideas into accessible tools for students. Affectionately nicknamed “Captain Solfège” in high school for his remarkable sight-reading and pitch-matching abilities, Caleb has a gift for translating sound into music — often playing anything he hears by ear. These are skills he’s passionate about helping his students develop, regardless of their current level. Caleb studied voice under David Templeton, a renowned opera singer and vocal coach at the College of Charleston. He currently serves as music director at Grace United Methodist Church in West Ashley, which offers a unique performance space for students — one with a supportive and attentive audience. With 18 years of experience on piano and organ, Caleb has accompanied college ensembles, church services, and choirs. His keyboard style is as broad as it is deep: from Bach fugues to Beatles ballads, from jazz improvisation to sight-reading hymnals.
